Proof that ANYONE can make a difference!

A HUGE thanks to an incredible group of second graders from Rocky Mountain Christian Academy in Colorado for raising $846 to buy mosquito nets for the people of Gabon! Almost 85 nets will protect families in Gabon from malaria because of these amazing selfless kids who were able to see a need and work to help at such a young age.

Second Graders from Rocky Mountain Christian Academy

One thing that I have learned already through all of this is that ANYONE can make a difference in someone's life whether it is for their next door neighbor or someone across the Atlantic Ocean in Gabon. You don't have to wait until you are old enough, wise enough, have the right job, or feel that you are ready. Just go for it like these wonderful kids!

Thank you Grove City Alliance!

We would like to thank Grove City Alliance Church in Pennsylvania for all that they have done and will do to support Project Sunset!

They hosted an event while Pastor Jean Marc was in the States and continued to spread the word about Project Sunset! Pastor Jean Marc was able to share about the Ministries in Gabon and future plans along with sharing about the need for mosquito nets to fight malaria in Gabon.

They raised almost $600 for Project Sunset by selling shirts and purses! That is 60 mosquito nets! These wonderful people are planning another event at a local college in November that will continue to spread the word and raise funds to deliver even more mosquito nets in Gabon! God is good!

Thank you for everything Grove City!!!

Pastor Jean Marc's Visit to SVSU

A lot has been happening over the past few weeks!

Pastor Jean Marc from Gabon came to visit the States and he was able to come to Saginaw Valley State University and speak for Project Sunset night! The night was hosted by National Society of Leadership and Success who are raising money and awareness for Project Sunset this year on campus!

Jean Marc and I with the NSLS Executive Board

The night was a huge success. 60-70 people attended and learned about Project Sunset and what we are doing to fight malaria. In one week Saginaw Valley raised money to send 70 nets to Gabon and they are still in the process of raising more!

Pastor Jean Marc was able to speak about several of the current ministries and future ministries in Gabon and explain how Project Sunset works through the Mobile Medical Clinics to distribute the nets. After he spoke we had four stations that students rotated through. One station was Q&A with Jean Marc and the students loved that station! When it was time to rotate it was always hard to get the students to leave the table with Jean Marc and head to the next one. The students really enjoyed learning from his perspective, and he is a GREAT teacher! We are very thankful for the opportunity to have had him here with us!

We had a mosquito net on display so students could see what their donations buy.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this night a huge success!

The Seemingly Little Things

Something that has become really clear to me through all of this is that you can’t pass up the small opportunities because you don’t know what will come out of those seemingly small things. A great example of this is the Project Sunset logo and shirt design. I asked Tim Crecelius to design a logo for what was at the time a non-existent project. He said yes and started designing right away. I got an email a few weeks later with an incredible design. At the time the design was only going to be used on some shirts that would get worn by people at my school and church. He could have not spent that much time on it and just made a regular mediocre design, but instead he worked really hard on it even though he didn’t know what would become of it. But now, that design that seemed unimportant at the time is being seen and worn by people across the country and parts of the world, representing something more than Tim or I probably ever imagined. I would just like to thank Tim again for designing this awesome logo! God has been teaching me every day through all of this that if I follow Him in the little things, He will put them all together and make something wonderful out of them that I will be blessed to be a part of, like Project Sunset!

So much has happened since March!

Wow, so much has happened since March!

In the end of June I took a trip with a team from my church, Bridge Community Church, to Gabon through E4 Project Inc. where we delivered 100 nets to villages there through Mobile Medical Clinics run by the Gabonese. That was an incredible experience, but only the beginning!

In early August, E4 Project adopted Project Sunset officially as one of their non-profit Programs and so now we have all of the legal status needed to raise money as efficiently as possible!

Since our "adoption" things with Project Sunset have exploded! We now have a website page at www.e4project.org/programs/project-sunset/ where people can directly buy t-shirts or donate money for nets. As of this moment we have people with shirts in 11 different states and in Colombia, but I'm sure that will change soon, because we're always growing!

God never ceases to amaze me and I firmly believe He enjoys surprising me because He does it ALL THE TIME! It's crazy and so exciting to think that less than a year ago this was a Project being run out of a small dorm room, and now we have supporters around the country.

In the first 5 weeks that Project Sunset was partnered with E4 Project Inc. over $1200 was raised, which was more than what was raised in the prior 10 months. Now there are a total of 200 nets distributed on the ground in Gabon since June and more are always being distributed!

I am so excited to be part of something clearly being led by God! Stay tuned for more excitement!

Malaria: We can stop it.

A child dies every minute from Malaria in Africa. A disease so devastating should be impossible to beat right? It should be, but it's not. Malaria is extremely preventable and the resources to kill this disease are already existing.

In fact, we already have killed off malaria here in the United States because it was right in our face. It can just as easily be ended in Africa and every single part of the world, all it takes is some money and love.

Malaria is transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito. Mosquitoes can be stopped. People can be saved.

Mosquitoes bite and transmit malaria most from dusk til dawn while people sleep. All it takes to keep them safe is a mosquito net to go over their bed. The mosquito net is called an LLIN, a Long Lasting Insecticidal Net that not only prevents the mosquito from biting the potential victim, but it also kills the mosquito because the net itself is treated with insecticide. This kills the mosquito and prevents it from continuing on to bite the next person who may not have a net to protect themselves.

Malaria can be stopped, and with your help we can make a huge impact.
